aster- / astro-
Greek aster, astron A base word meaning:

Interesting Note: Why do we call it Astroturf? Astroturf is a trade name for durable synthetic grass used on sports fields developed by Monsanto scientists. It was first used in the Houston Astrodome in 1966 to replace the natural grass in the newly-enclosed stadium.
To name their product, the developers played on the nickname of Texas as the "Lone-Star State," which had built an enormous Astrodome for sporting events. They combined the Greek base for "star", - astro- with the English word "turf." This new word matched the novelty of the product. Source: Getting to the Roots of Science Vocabulary - Shell Education |
